Honestly, this whole story just screams bureaucratic overreach to me. If these nuns are mentally fit and want to live in their convent, who is the Church—or anyone else—to tell them otherwise? It’s their life, their property (or at least their home for decades), and their decision how they want to spend their final years. Forcing them into a care home against their will is a violation of personal liberty, plain and simple. And now putting conditions on their freedom—like banning them from using social media—just because it makes the hierarchy uncomfortable? That’s ridiculous. If they want to share their story online and connect with the world, that’s their right as individuals. The Church should butt out and respect the autonomy of these women instead of trying to control every aspect of their lives.
